…but we are back! Our European/UK cycling adventure takes off today.

A second summer, foreign languages, delectable treats, amazing scenery and fascinating people are beckoning… all while riding on the other side of the road!!

We have 90 days to get from Lisbon to Paris and then another 90 days in the UK and Ireland.

With a basic Europe route in mind and a 7 day planning horizon there will be plenty of slow exploring to be done – especially at the pace we cycle! Heading north to Porto, possibly walking the Camino Portuguese, Madrid next to visit friends and then to Barcelona for the main event – riding to Paris.

Ah the simplicity of living low to the ground – which route, what to eat today and where to pitch the tent.

The bikes were re-built recently by the wonderful Andy. Gone are the drop bars, bar end shifters, and the triple chain rings. In come Denham bars, a 1 by 11 drive train, and hydraulic disks. They are amazing – my biking experience has been transformed!

And the years in between have not been without adventuring and new skills.

Living in the motor-home for 15 months, Greg went back to school to begin learning the art of fine furniture making at CFW in Nelson.

With some South Island winter exploring. We do live in a stunningly beautiful country!

And I learnt to weave.
